Now the Conservative government does not trust our GPs to do
their job properly? The job they have trained for?
The government is
now telling us that GPs do not have the time to make in-depth medical
assessments of patients, but they have time to be accountants and run the
budget for virtually the entire NHS?
The government is
now telling us that GPs do not have the training to make in-depth *MEDICAL*
assessments, but apparently *UNTRAINED* assessors like Atos are?
They say
this will save a £1 billion in working days for PRIVATE employers. But how much
will it cost us the taxpayers? We will be footing the bill for all these
referral boards with different specialists sitting on them that will have to
spring up the length and breadth of this country in order to judge if someone
is sick enough to require long term sickness? For the amount of long term sick
there will have to be hundreds of these "referral units". Four weeks
isn't even long enough to have surgery and be declared fit enough to return to
work. How dare they undermine GPs like this? How dare they interfere in the
doctor patient relationship?
So much for Cameron's small government and less interference from
the state! (More lies of course) Subjecting those with terminal or chronic
illnesses to even more distress, upset and stress and strain, how is this going
to help? This is yet another ill thought out policy proposal it is not
thought through will prove to be totally unworkable and totally impracticable,
not to mention inhumane.
Where do we insert
the word "crazy" in the Conservative party?
Where are all these jobs that are suddenly going to appear for
sick people to do? Will the government step in to say these people cannot be
sacked when they take time off because they are too ill to work? Or take time
off for hospital, doctor or physio appointments?
When are the Liberal Democrats going to come to their senses and
walk away from this hideous government? Or will this be yet another time they
all stamp their feet hurl a few insults and empty threats about and then meekly
follow the government into their lobby when voting this bill through parliament?

Wrong. The minister said that they were unable to make occupational assesments, and the GPs agreed with this.
What GPs agreed with it? Have you got something to back that up?
"Last year this government wanted GPs to become accountants, this year they want assessors to become GPs, no wonder the country is going to the dogs."
