Weird Unemployment Data - Is the Tory Led Government & Big Business Manipulating the Stats?

For the third consecutive month unemployment has fallen, great news - or is it? Along with the small drop in unemployment, yet again there is a sharp rise in those claiming benefits. As long as it is genuine any fall in unemployment is to be welcomed, however, if people are losing their jobs and claiming benefit, why is the claimant count rising and yet not registering on the unemployment register? Why has the long term unemployed count risen by 18,000? It doesn't makes sense. It can't be just an mathematical anomaly, this must be happening for a reason, what is causing it?

In the 1980s, Margaret Thatcher's Conservative government encouraged job centre staff to transfer hundreds of thousands of unemployed people from the unemployment register over to claiming invalidity benefits so she could claim that her government had reduced joblessness. Effectively disguising the true  fallout from the pit closures. Many thousands of miners lost their jobs decimating entire communities (many of which have never recovered). Yet the pit redundancies had no impact on official unemployment figures because the unemployment figures were being falsified. 

Could something like this be happening now? Overall (removing the Olympic Games temporary jobs) official figures confirm that the private sector is not making  enough jobs to offset public sector job losses and the private sector may take as long as 14 years to make up the shortfall of jobs. Those claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) has risen by 6.100 in the quarter February to May, yet we are told that unemployment is falling, how are these people managing to elude the official unemployment statistics?

How many people a have been removed from the unemployment register because they are attending a training course? They are not then classed as unemployed but classed as training.


I know a carpenter roofer, for the past three years he (and a lot of his mates) have hardly had any work but none of them have signed on, so they are not registered as unemployed, how many others are like this?

• To know how many people are applying for JSA but are being transferred to other benefits and so are not registering as unemployed? 
• How many people have government instructed to be removed from unemployment register because they refuse to work for nothing on the "Workfare" programme? Are they claiming other benefits in order to survive?
• An official register that counts how many overall job losses there were in all sectors, so we can measure this against the claimant count, perhaps then we may get a more balanced view of what is happening in the job market.
• To know how many full time positions and how many part time positions there are.
• A register that counts how many people have lost full time positions and have currently taken up part time work because they cannot find full time work. Unemployment statistics does not count these people as unemployed!
• We need to know how many people that have recently left work and decided to start their own business are not claiming JSA or benefits, but are not working either!
• How many people have lost their jobs and are too afraid to claim for fear as being labelled "idle, feckless spongers" by the government?
• How many people have left full time permanent positions who are not on short term contracts. 
• Is the record fall in unemployment in London due to the Olympics?

There has been a record number of people finding work in London, figures showed that the number of people in work in London hit a record 3.88 million, the highest level since regional employment records began in 1992.

If this is because people in London are being hired for the Olympics, there could be a further rise in unemployment when the Olympics ends and the effects start to fade. 

If unemployment is genuinely on the way down then why has the number of people working full time jobs has fallen by 120,000? Are companies hiring more part time workers than full time on purpose and is this why unemployment has fallen? 

It's no secret that the Tories count big businesses among their supporters and may donate hundreds of thousands of pounds to the Conservative party. Is there some kind of agreement for big business to hire more part time workers?

Hiring part time workers does actually keep costs down by using more part time workers at peak times and extending operating hours by using part time staff in the evenings and at weekends. It is also cost effective by using part time staff to work overtime to meet the demands of the business. Employers do not have to pay part time staff overtime rate until the staff has worked more than 40 hours.

Currently part time workers have the same rights as full time workers but the present government are busy changing all of these rights and soon part time workers will be pretty much stripped of their rights and this is another reason why there has been a sudden increase in part time work. The true extent of government changes is not yet known, however, the standard has already been set for  driving down pay and conditions, giving employers more reasons than ever to employ part time staff.

I believe this is one huge way the Conservative led government is managing the unemployment rate. In the end this will not help the economy as those on part time wages will not have money to spend in the economy so supply will always outstrip demand, it is a self filling legacy, the UK economy will carry on flatlining until the government change course.

Coincidentally, during the last three months there has been a small fall in unemployment,this is also the third month in a row that the annual rate of inflation (CPI) has fallen, is it really a coincidence or is it by design?  On the surface to a lay economic's person like me this appears to be an "at odds indicator" and I wonder how inflation has fallen if more people are in work surely they are spending more, if only on fuel and other work-born expenses, so how has CPI rate of inflation fallen? We also have historically low interest rates and house prices are said to be rising and yet another anomaly is that the RPI rate of inflation is also falling? This is a very conflicting picture.


Something else that bothers me, chancellor George Osborne can never be found when there are tough questions for him to answer, he can only be found when there is some good news for him to come out and crow about, so why was he k nowhere to be seen when the latest unemployment figures were announced? Could it be because he knew he would be asked some very tough questions?

Tory Coalition Government Seriously Bad For Your Health

Today the latest news is that according to data from one of a series of papers published in the Lancet medical journal. Britain has the 3rd most inactive population in Europe. On the day is it announced this country is 3rd most inactive we also learn that the government is allowing head teachers to decide if they should allow fast food outlets like Subway into our schools and that the number road deathsattributed to speeding have risen for the first time in ten years.


In January 2009 the Labour government introduced the Change4Life fitness programme, aimed at helping entire families to eat better and become fitter, they teamed this with  improved school dinners; Schools Sports Partnership Programme, Free swimming for adults over 60 and children, as well as other initiatives aimed at improving the nation's health.  


The free swimming scheme scheme for the under-16s and over-60s was launched by the Labour government as part of the Labour government's healthy living and eating drive to go hand in hand with holding the Olympic Games was cut by the incoming coalition government in 2010. The Tory government said that the scheme was "a luxury" that could no longer be afforded and was axed as part of £73m cuts made by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. What the government appear to be saying here is that good health and exercise to those on restricted incomes like pensioners and children and those from poorer families is a "luxury"?


Labour launched the scheme in 2008 which proved hugely popular with both generations, as part of a bid to get more people involved in sport by 2012 and claimed their aim was to get England's swimming pools free to use by the time of the London 2012 Games. The scheme also had a knock on effect whereby children entered swimming pools fee, but were taken by their parents, so the fitness levels of the entire family were being raised and it also got people using their local sports and leisure facilities.


What a truly fantastic legacy to the Games this would have been and the cost in terms of health benefits and less use of health care etc would have far outweighed the cost of the scheme. Saving £73 million is extremely myopic, in terms of the costs it would have save the NHS in the long term.

Along with the government abolishing free swimming they also decided to axe the Labour government's 'School Sport Partnership Programme'. This caused a national outcry and the government became the target of of outspoken criticisms from famous sportsmen and women, as well as alarmed healthcare professionals and teachers. The government changed its mind and was forced into an early partial u-turn, when celebrities started to line up to criticise the government's attack on school children's sporting activities. The humiliating climb-down came one week after David Cameron announced in the House of Commons that they were axing the it as the Schools Sports Partnership "does not work".  This led to accusations that PM had not even looked at the scheme before talking about it as the scheme which was introduced by the former Labour government had proved to be highly successful as the number of young people doing two hours or more of sport per week increased from 25 per cent in 2002 to more than 90 per cent in 2010 when the Tories tried to axe the programme. How could Cameron have possibly concluded that this scheme had "not worked"?

Cameron's Tories had planned to snatch £162million of funding for a ­nationwide network of PE teachers – the School Sports Partnerships – which pools resources between primary, secondary and specialist state schools to increase sporting opportunities. The initiative was scrapped in the summer of 2011 by Education Secretary Michael Gove who slashed the budget and made just £65million available from an original budget of £162 million and only until 2013 to allow one PE teacher per school to be released for one day a week to ensure competitive sports are “embedded”. (Neatly getting us past the Olympic Games so that any furore will [the Tories hope] be limited!) This cut has been widely condemned.

The Tory government has also cut funding to local authorities causing the closure of swimming pools and leisure centres right across the country. People on low or fixed incomes often find the price of amenities restrictive, however, now many are also often too far away from their nearest sports centre and simply unable to afford the cost of travel on top of the cots of admission.


Serious doubts have also been raised about the effectiveness of health secretary Andrew Lansley's Public Health Responsibility Deal, whereby fast food firms, drinks makers and supermarket chains help shape the coalition's approach to public health, and thus avoid being subjected to further legislation, in return for what critics say are inadequate changes, such as cutting salt in food.

Government plans for big food firms to help fight obesity have suffered a setback because many companies are ignoring its plea to cut the amount of fat, salt or sugar in their products.

Coca-Cola, Kellogg, Danone and other major food and drink producers have shunned health secretary Andrew Lansley's appeal to make their products less energy-dense to help meet his target of people in England consuming 5bn fewer calories a day.

Financial estimates carried out for the leaders of every major local authority in England and Wales show that funding for services used by millions of people will be shrunk by up to 90 per cent by 2020. People will have to be given the choice between soaring council taxes or “drastic” cuts in local amenities.....

The dire warning comes in a report for the Local Government Association which speaks for more than 300 councils in England and Wales.

Now today we also learn that the Government criticised as roads deaths increase for first time in 10 years 

Since the government decided to allow councils to do away with speed cameras, road accidents attributed to speeding motorists have risen for the first time in years.


The experiment is over and the results are in. In April, Thames Valley police switched Oxfordshire's speed cameras back on. They had been off for eight months, as a result of the government's decision to cut the road safety grant. Then the police began assessing the damage. In the 31 days before the cameras were switched off (July 2010), the machines caught 2,286 speeding motorists. In the 30 days after they were switched back on, they caught 5,917


In the eight months without cameras, there were 18 deaths on the roads in Oxfordshire, compared with 12 in the same period in the previous year. This was the first time in four years that the number of deaths on the county's roads had risen. Serious injuries rose from 160 to 179.


Oxfordshire is not alone, local councils have been switching off speed cameras right across the country.


Just another day and another couple of bad government policies hit the buffers, proving that the Tory led coalitions government is seriously bad for your health!


UPDATE: And this is exactly what I keep trying to point out on this blog; the current Tory government is corrupt and they are changing things in every possible way and if we do not wake-up and realise it and force them out then I fear our country will never be the same again! Summer Recess - How Many Days, Weeks or Months Has Coalition Got?

The last few weeks have been a momentous time in British politics for the coalition government. No sooner had the Budget crisis and the u-turns on virtually every policy Osborne tried to introduce in his budget died down, then the fuel crisis flared up and the prime minster and his cabinet secretary Francis Maude deliberate caused panic at the pumps for what they thought would be political gain and the detriment to the unions. There was the millionaire's tax cut at the expense of pensioners personal tax allowance cuts (granny tax), the was pasty tax, church tax, charity tax, fuel tax, U-turns (among others). On top of this we had the Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt exposed as a liar and discovered he deliberately misled parliament  about his close association with the Murdochs, News International and how he tried to get their take-over of BSkyB bid through parliament. During that time we also had the spectacle of David Cameron's terrible red faced stuttering appearance at the Leveson Inquiry as he tried to conceal the truth about his relation ship with "that woman",  the venomous Rebekah Brooks, who is the source of trouble wherever she goes. Cameron and Hunt may think they have weathered this particular storm, but I have it on good authority that it is due to flare up again very soon!  No sooner all of this abates then along comes Bob Diamond and the Barclays bank Libor fixing scandal to rock the government and push them on the back foot yet again.


Ed Miliband and Labour took the initiative, realised the severity of the situation and public anger and called for a judge led public inquiry into the banking industry and the Libor fixing scandal, but for some reason better known to themselves, David Cameron, George Osborne, Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats do not want this and have forced a weak parliamentary inquiry to look at the situation. Ed Miliband maintains that this inquiry is too narrow and will not be able to take in the culture and practices of the UK banking sector. The inquiry is to be led by a Conservative MP (Andrew Tyrie) and is already open to partisan accusations and being branded as a total whitewash. A judge led public inquiry (as the Labour party are still calling for) would have a much wider remit and barristers would be present to forensically question witnesses. This is the depth of questioning that Labour want to see and it appears that it is this depth of questioning that the Conservatives seem to be scared of having. 


The excuse Cameron gave for not wanting this extensive inquiry is that he wanted the inquiry to report quickly, bearing that in mind, Ed Miliband proposed that we still have a judge led inquiry but that it could consist of two parts - Part One: to deal with the Libor issue and to report by Christmas (giving the PM and Conservatives what they want) and Part Two: to be held over 12 months and to delve into wider issues relating to the banking crisis. Miliband proposed this in PMQs two weeks ago. At the time Mr Cameron dismissed the idea stating  that the "second stage may not be able to begin if the Serious Fraud Office brought charges against anyone".  However after the session of PMQs ended, a furious and red faced David Cameron made a beeline for  Mr Miliband outside the debating chamber, shouting and jabbing his finger ar Mr Miliband yelling that "you ambushed me" ordering, "don't do that again". Mr Miliband replied that he thought the PM had handled the issue very badly. However, it now leaves the question that if a serious fraud has been committed that Cameron doesn't want the perpetrators prosecuted as this would hold the report up, so these bankers and dealers just get away with the carnage they have caused? Totally bizarre decision! If this was an ordinary person committing benefit fraud would Cameron be quite so lenient? This is yet another of Cameron's extremely bad judgement calls and one which this will undoubtedly come back and haunt him in the not too distant future.

Another of the Prime Minister's bad judgement calls was to allow George Osborne to get away with his disgraceful behaviour in the Commons, not only that but actually joining in with him in last week's PMQs, when the subject of a public apology was raised.


Mr Cameron maintains he would like cross party support on banking reform, however, after he allowed his chancellor to behave so disrespectfully and make slanderous statements in the House of Commons, and libellous comments in the Spectator magazine about Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls and former Labour ministers to the Treasury, how does he hope to achieve this? If you want the help of others it's a good idea not to insult them and impugn their integrity before asking!  This wouldn't occur to the arrogant Cameron  though and he manged to bring himself and his government down into the gutter along with his chancellor.  Their crass childish behaviour is hardly likely to promote cross party harmony and a willingness to cooperate, especially as the Chancellor cannot even bring himself to publicly apologise and withdraw his false allegations, despite being urged to do so by senior members of his own party! What Osborne did was to use political disinformation by the Chancellor and the British Prime Minister, quite honestly, I have never witnessed anything like this from any politician in any party before and it was televised all around the world, utter disgrace bringing the "Mother of all Parliaments" into disrepute like that! 


 Spreading malicious rumours the way in which George Osborne did, not only damaged the reputations of  innocent parties, it actually damaged the reputation of our parliament and this is not the way we expect our politicians to behave and  begs the question whether Osborne and Cameron can ever be trusted again?  This was not just cut and thrust of political life it was a serious attempt to harm the reputations of others by means of using malicious lies and disinformation and nothing short of  a willful attempt to use the privilege of high office to intentionally harm an opponent and not only that, it was also a deliberate attempt to lie to, and misinform the public. George Osborne should definitely be facing some kind of serious disciplinary action for such outrageous behaviour! What example is he setting to all the school children and young adults that look in on PMQs each week? It's scandalous! It is also this kind of atrocious behaviour from politicians that is turning the public off of politics in droves and it is not an isolated incident either, this behaviour is present from Cameron every single time he enters the debating chamber, he is dumbing down our political system single handed!


It shouldn't go unsaid either that if Ed Balls and  former Treasury ministers were guilty of anything, then why did they press so hard for a full powered independent judge led public inquiry? In fact why is the Labour party continuing to press extremely hard for a full inquiry?  they would hardly be in a rush to reveal wrongdoing about themselves!  It is the Tories who do not want the full inquiry - why?


Perhaps it has something to do with the Conservative party being completely in hock to the City? That is not me saying this, it is none other than the Deputy Prime Minister, although he did say it back in 2010 before he prostituted himself and his party to the Tories. Back then Clegg claimed that: 

"the Conservative party will never reform the banks and rebuild our economy because they are completely in hock to the City of London". "They are the party of choice for rich bankers, and no wonder when their major tax policy is to give tax breaks to double millionaires. They even have plans to cut taxes for the banks and raise them for solid British manufacturing companies. They will never change Britain for the better because they are only interested in helping people at the top."Nick Clegg May 2010

Clegg said all of this before going on to wholeheartedly endorse the Tories in all their plans to give rich bankers tax breaks, paid for by taxing pensioners.


Facts About Bankers and the Tories that David Cameron and George Osborne do not want us to know.

• From 2005 - 2010 when Cameron the Tories accepted £15 million from City bankers in cash donations
• Prior to the 2010 general election 10% of all Tory candidates were bankers or have worked in the sector, compared with 1.5% of the country as a whole.
• More than a quarter of all Conservative MPs and peers have held jobs in banking or the financial sector.
• George Osborne let the banks off the hook by imposing a levy of just £2.5billion. ( while at the same time, Mr Osborne has slashed corporation tax rates from 28% to 24% meaning the impact on the finance houses will be minimal.)
• The Treasury has also been criticised for allowing City high-fliers to keep pocketing exorbitant bonuses.
• The Treasury has also watered down the levy. Originally the proposal was for 0.07% on all of a banks’ liabilities. But the Government has said the banks will not have to pay the tax on the first £20billion of liabilities.
• Of the 498 Tory MPs and peers 134 have been or are employed in the financial sector, this includes 70 of the party’s 305 MPs. 
• Among the 193 Conservative peers, more than a third work or have worked in finance or banking.
• Up to 2011 Eleven Tory MPs and peers have worked for Barclays, including Richard Bacon MP, Jesse Norman MP, Andrea Leadsom MP and   former Chancellor Lord Lawson, Earl Howe 
• A further eight Conservatives have been at Rothschild, including John Redwood MP, Mark Garnier MP, former Chancellor Lord Lamont and Jacob Rees-Mogg MP.
• Other Tories worked for Lehman Bros, the company whose collapse sparked the financial crisis. They include Steve Baker MP, Chief Architect, Global Financing and Asset Servicing Platforms at the company from 2006-2008; Brooks Newmark MP and Lord Freeman.
• Others with links to the financial sector include billionaire Lord Ashcroft, welfare minister Lord Freud, Harriet Baldwin MP and Kwasi Kwarteng MP.
• David Rowland: Former Conservative Party Treasurer - was forced to resigned from his position of Tory Treasurer because of his questionable business deals, where he used a series of tax havens for his take overs (so he would not have to pay UK tax) . Making Rowland Tory Treasurer is another seriously bad judgement call of David Cameron's. Rowland has donated over £1.16 million to the Tories and is linked to the;

• Other bankers who have donated to the Conservative party.

• Mr Osborne has also failed to take forward the recommendation of Sir David Walker that banks should be forced to disclose all pay packages above £1million.
• There has been no action to curb the bonus culture of the banks, the only pressure that has been exerted has come from the Labour party and the general public.
• Michael Spencer, chief executive of financial transactions company Icap, has given £173,000 to the Tories since 2006
• Henry Angest – who  controls a company that loaned the Tories £5m to help fund the last general election campaign. Reportedly worth £45m, the Swiss-born banker is a trenchant critic of attempts to impose greater regulation on the City. He is critical of the UK's "punitive tax system", which was softened by Osborne in the 2012 budget. Has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to Scottish Conservatives through his company Flowidea Ltd. Funded Atlantic Bridge the charity mixed up with former Tory Defence secretary Liam Fox and his "friend" Adam Werritty scandal which forced Fox to resign.

What all the above shows is that we are definitely not "all in it together" and that the Liberal Democrats are in government but not in power and the true coalition which is governing this country is between the banks, the Tory party and big business.
It seems that many people who donate to the Tory party do so through various different companies they own keeping their donations to £50,000 or below. Their names do not necessarily show up it's a way of donating hundreds of thousands of pounds without the total being decalred, it's a funding loophole a that needs to be closed. For more information of bankers who donate to the Tories see HERE (on this blog)


It's totally ludicrous that Cameron a Tory, has ordered a Tory parliamentary inquiry headed by another Tory into a serious banking scandal, when the Tory party is made up of a large proportion of bankers and former bankers as MPs and peers and is being financially funded by Tory bankers to the tune of millions of pounds? The whole thing is a whitewash and Andrew Tyrie who is heading it has already been accused of having his mind made up before the inquiry even started! How can they possibly remain objective when their positions are wholly compromised before they eve start?

Bankers have got away with their greed for too long, they have trashed our economy, joined with the Tory party in blaming the former Labour government and anyone else they can think of for the havoc they themselves have caused. I don't know what is worse, their trashing of the UK economy or their failure to own up to doing it and seeking to pass the buck and blame elsewhere? 


The public are quite rightly extremely angry, why wouldn't they be, it is they that are being forced to bail thse bankers out, while these Tory bankers just carry on awarding themselves huge bonuses as if nothing has ever happened.
We  had a golden opportunity to hold the banks to account for what they have done by means of holding a full independent judge led inquiry, but Cameron refuses point blank and is once again ignoring the public and what we want - why? What is he so afraid of? The Conservative party has accepted many millions of pounds in donations from the banking industry, perhaps it is this and the true extent of their involvement with bankers that they do not want to become common knowledge? 
People like bankers do not give money that kind of money away for nothing, they certainly wanted something back, which would probably have come out ion a full inquiry which is why the Tories do not want one.


The coalition is cracking all over the place it is not going to last another year, I would be surprised if it lasts another 6 months. However, Cameron came out today giving the impression that the coalition was in trouble, it is, but his pep talk was all an act, designed to give Clegg a boost, to make it look like there was deep differences between them, that was done in order to try and win back Clegg  some of his lost votes. They haven't learnt anything they are still trying to take the electorate for mugs, it's quite insulting really. It was also done because Cameron is an egotistical narcissist, he believes that his little rant in the paper was going to divert attention away from the monumental cock-up the Tories have made of the security of the Olympic Games!


This horrendously incompetent government's days are numbered, it's just a matter of time before it folds, I believe it will not be entirely because of the coalition though, it will come as part of three or four things. The Jeremy Hunt and Rupert Murdoch News International  debacle will burst back into the news; The economy will worsen and we may lose our AAA rating; Something really serious will be revealed about the Tories and the banking industry regarding cash for policy; David Cameron will completely lose control in the House of Commons and of his government, and all of it will place an enormous strain on the coalition which will buckle under the pressure as they realise that the only chance they have for survival of their party is to walk away from the coalition and trigger a general election.

I am heartily sick of all this pussy footing around the Tory led government with the press and media too afraid to publish the truth. Lives are being ruined and our children's futures being decimated. And even more shocking the lives of disabled people are being blighted and its causing some to take their own lives and many more are cowering in fear of what this government will do to them next. Add to that all the government inadequacies and other policy failures which are being deliberately under reported, or just not reported at all,  the public have a right to ask why the press are sitting idly by like bunch of silenced schoolboys too afraid of their own shadows and of this incompetent Tory led government to speak out.
It is time someone said it how it actually is.


Gone are the intrepid reporters of yesteryear, with the exception of the Daily Mirror and the Guardian (who sometimes print the truth), it appears what we have that laughably passes for newspaper editors and journalists these days, is a load of frightened schoolboys too scared of their own shadows and of this hideous Tory led government to publish the truth! They are all acting like bewildered rabbits caught in the headlamps not knowing which way to hop until it's too late and because of their dithering they'll all end up squashed and flattened on the roads of Westminster and they, just like the Liberal Democrats before them will become carrion waiting to be picked over and then discarded when of no further use!


I can only imagine the reason for their journalistic reluctance to tell the truth is because most of them backed this shower of blithering idiotic over privileged incompetent Tories for government, and when the electorate (sensibly) failed to deliver the Conservative party a majority they then backed the British Coalition what laughingly now passes for government and are probably now too embarrassed to admit they got it wrong. The only journalists I have seen really prepared to stand up to this government is the Guardian's brilliantly acerbic Polly Toynbee, and oddly enough the Daily Mail's wonderful columnist Sonia Poulton.

There I said it for you! Despite individual reporting of some of the utter barking mad policy failures of this Tory led government, not one single paper has reported what this government are actually doing, which is to divide and rule this country, by creating divisions and disharmony.


The prime minister is an habitual lying narcissist, however, narcissists are usually pretty decent at their jobs at least, but not so Cameron, he is so incompetent he can't even get being a proper narcissist right and we have to be saddled with the only narcissist who is a total failure at his job, all we get are the lies, unpleasantness, the deliberate misleading, arrogance and bullying and his insane erratic behaviour in the House of Commons and not much else!


How many blunders  and u-turns of Cameron's farcical Comedy of Errors Government will it take before the press start accurately reporting and the electorate start to wake-up to what is happening in this country?  Look at the way Osborne panicked and stopped his planned fuel price increase, not out of any concern for the motorist but he u-turned in an hours notice after learning the Sun newspaper was going after him. No cabinet or government minister knew of his plans to stop the increase which lead to total confusion. The latest in a long line of failed initiatives and car crash policies and appalling cock-ups to envelope the country at the hands of this incompetent Conservative led government  is to do with the UK's biggest security firm G4S and the safety and security of the Olympic Games for athletes, spectators and Londoners. The  debacle over problems with entry to the country at the UK's Border Controls for athletes and visitors to the Games  from the Tories, were because of the Tory cuts Border controls who are now being forced to hire rookie officers not trained in immigration or terrorism at all of the UK's major airports, and still there are expected to be huge queues. 


We have had 7 years to sort out security guards for the Olympics and after receiving cast iron assurances from  David Cameron, Home Secretary, Theresa May and Tory London Mayor Boris Johnson just a few days ago, we now discover that with just two weeks to go, the security for the world's biggest event is NOT properly in place.  A whistleblower in the Mirror newspaper has accused G4S of having shockingly sloppy procedures. It really isn't good enough, the Tory led government has fallen down yet again  this time the whole world is watching us and this is a major embarrassment! 


We were told that 3,500 troops will have to be deployed in London for the games because the blithering idiots in Downing Street and the Home Office were not competent enough to check months ago if not years ago, that we had enough people who would be adequately trained to secure the safety of athletes and spectators for the London Olympic games. However, it has emerged today that the 3.500 troops will not be enough and more are now being told they will have to cancel their leave to safeguard the Games, as well as extra police.


For the Home Office to say they were assured 2 weeks ago that  Locog and the *private* company G4S had this under control is just simply not good enough, this should have been in place months and months ago, it should not now be down to G4S fast tracking recruits for security reasons, this is a recipe for chaos, confusion and total disaster. The whole thing has to be the biggest logistical nightmare, so many questions arise, where will recruits get their training, their uniforms etc? Who will they report to if they see something suspicious? This was the Home Secretary's remit and Theresa May should have checked months ago that this was all under control and not only checked she should have demanded to see proof that it was under control, she obviously hasn't, or she would have discovered this months ago when she should have been asking these questions. The question must also be asked (because I cannot see if it already has) is what the hell has London Mayor, Boris Johnson been doing?  He is supposed to be in charge of overseeing Olympics? What happened to Johnson's boast on 27th July 2011 about being able to "catch the world napping and hold Games now"?  I know this much, if Labour's Ken Livingstone was still in charge, he would have been hot on such a security issue years ago. That's the difference between Ken who absolutely knew what he is doing, and Boris who only thinks he knows what he is doing!


Only last Wednesday (11/07/2012) the Prime Minister, David Cameron was boasting about the Olympics in the House of Commons and how well organised they all were so is the Home secretary saying that Cameron knew this last Wednesday and he still boasted about how well his totally feckless government had done? A whistleblower who was involved in security training at the Olympic Games has said that there is a 50% that weapon will be smuggled into the Games! Did Cameron know this when he made those comments in the House?  Is Theresa May actually saying that the prime minister was telling lies and deliberately misleading people (yet again)? We are all entitled to ask; "exactly what the hell kind of people have we running this country"? What are they? Because from where I am, Cameron, Osborne, Johnson, Clegg, May and the entire Tory led coalition government cabinet look like a bunch of imbecilic posh chancers who got lucky and somehow got into government and who are totally and utterly incapable of holding high office, in fact, they are incapable of holding the post of office juniors.


So what did Home Secretary May do to check Olympic security exactly? Just phone up and ask? Did she not think to ask what kind of numbers had *already* gone through training and what kind of training had they had and actually ask to see demonstrations and be taken through the training procedures to assess if they were using the security equipment correctly and demand to know what was in place  and where to carry out security checks etc? Why didn't she ask to see what G4S were doing regarding recruitment with just a year to go, as the numbers needed were so high? Because of the vast numbers required they should have already started their procedures, yet TODAY we learn from G4S that the government only finalised how many *extra*security staff would be needed in December 2011 and only then signed the contract with G4S, so this is not only a G4S failure, it is another monumental Tory led government failure too! And now Theresa May and the boss of G4S have to admit that they do not even know if security guards can speak English!


The breathtaking arrogance and just brass faced cheek for the Home Secretary to boast that she knew she could rely on our troops to step in and do a good job, saying "the security of the Olympics would not be compromised", especially after her government have just announced the loss of so many regiments and thousands of troops, how dare she say this? Has she no shame? No humility? Or is she once again just mouthing platitudes to try and cling on to her job? Theresa May said that 10,000 Olympics and Paralympics tickets had been donated to armed services through Tickets for Troops and a further 7,000 tickets were also being made available to troops for the dress rehearsals of the opening and closing ceremonies to recognise their extra commitment!
Big deal! What an insult the government have taken all the tickets no one else wants and want to give them to the troops! How will they be able to use them though? They will be working all the time it will not just be a set number of hours, these troops will be manning these games 24/7 and they will be billeted away from home and families in makeshift camps etc, so how will they get to use the tickets?
Talk about out of touch, this woman is lost to reality! Imagine saying to troops that have just received or are about to receive their P45 we'll  give you a ticket for the games to make up for it, a ticket they probably will not even be able to use? Or maybe they have just returned from a tour in Afghanistan and were due to go on their much deserved much earned summer leave looking forward to holidays with their families and now their holidays will have to be cancelled! This means that troops pre booked family holidays will have to be cancelled, can you imagine crushing disappointment felt by our troops and their families learning about this?  If tour operators refuse to refund their payment who is going to compensate them for cancelled holidays and loss of deposits/payments? And all because some stupid woman who calls herself the Home Secretary and some over privileged blithering incompetent idiot that calls himself a Prime Minister literally couldn't organise a proverbial piss up in a brewery?  Do they honestly think that our troops will be happy with having a games ticket while being forced to work instead of having a well deserved well earned holiday with their families and friends? For goodness sake what planet is this ludicrously incompetent government on?


May is right though, our troops will step in and they will do a brilliant professional job with a smile on their faces, but May should not fool herself that they do not mind having their lives thrown up in the air at such short notice and she should be totally embarrassed to be forced to ask them because of her and the prime minister's and London Mayor's appalling incompetence. For many of these troops who have no choice but to carry this work out they will be doing so having just received their "marching orders" (redundancy) from the army, it is not only a national disgrace it is an international embarrassment and yet another total incompetence "made in Downing Street"!


While they are at it perhaps Cameron, May and defence secretary Philip Hammond could explain to us what would have happened if this problem had occurred if the games were next year when they had just finished sacking so many troops and our troop numbers had been reduced to 85,000?  If our number of troops had already been reduced where would they have got the number of troops required from that number without compromising the country's security, not to mention the lives of the understaffed over stretched troops on tours of duty? 



This whole debacle, like many debacles rearing their heads in the NHS are just the epitome of privatisation and how private companies will let down public services time and time and time again because private companies are not giving a service like the public sector does, and does so well, they are giving a paid service and they have to do it cheaply in order to make a profit for shareholders.


This government's total policy failures has all the Hallmarks of a wholly inadequate government it is a complete omnishambles. If this, the complete failure of government is what we can actually see, what on earth must the total chaos going on behind the scenes be like? It would be frightening at the best of times, but at this particular juncture, when we need a calm, safe, secure government to see us through it is truly terrifying! The collapse of this Tory led government is like waiting to vomit,  you are powerless to stop it and you know it is going to happen, it is just a matter of when! I can only hope and pray that its peristalsis is reversed sooner rather than later before we have a complete catastrophe on our hands.


 Welcome to Tory Britain 2012. If cock-ups were an Olympic Sport this Tory led government would win every gold medal.



I hope to God that the Olympic Games goes off without a hitch, because the alternative is just to frightening to even think about!


Meanwhile the world's eyes look upon our government with growing concern and dismay - what a total embarrassment!


Update: Theresa May was told 10 Months ago about G4S Failings (Independent) She knew about problems with recruitment, did she think if she ignored them it would all go away and be alright on the night? For goodness sake what kind of neanderthals have we got running this country?  Now there are fears as an a senior airport official has said that substandard security checking are missing terror suspects who are entering Britain. A former police officer who has been drafted in to help with Border Control during the games has also told that he was put on a rushed security training course lasting just 9 days and expected to carry out the work that properly trained officers only do after receiving months of training! he has said that he does not feel comfortable doing this. This government knew we were hosting the games, they were warned repeatedly that security would be an issue and that Border Controls would not have enough staff, yet they still forced massive cuts in funding resulting in loss of staff at the Border Agency. George Osborne has made over 750,000 public service workers redundant leading to serious breaches all over the public sector and not least the Border Agency, they then expect them to magic fully trained staff up out of thin air and enough properly trained immigration officers to cope with the huge influx of visitors expected to arrive in the country during the Olympic Games, this is utter madness. Not only is this totally barking mad, it is also counter cost productive as the cost of hiring outside agency and temporary staff to fill in at Border Controls, far outweighs the cost of keeping properly trained experienced staff in their positions. Again complete and utter madness bordering on being certifiably insane!


Culture secretary Jeremy Hunt is wheeled out on the Marr Show to defend the government (things must be really bad, where is Theresa May? This is her department. Why should we take the word of Jeremy hunt anyway, he is a proven liar and has already been seen to mislead parliament several times over his assignations with the Murdochs and News International! This is a government of liars, misleaders and they get worse daily as they stumble from one crisis to the next.


The Tory led government and their poodles the Liberal Democrats 'yesmen' have taken  Labour's Olympic Games which was running to schedule, under budget without major hitches which were going to bring in work to thousands and leave a lasting legacy of prosperity and regeneration and totally and utterly ruined them. The world must be looking at us and laughing, but if we have a major terrorist incident that laughter will turn to savage criticism for which we will never be forgiven!

David Cameron: Out of Touch and Out of Control In furious Exchanges

The last Prime Minister's Questions (PMQs) today before the House rises for the summer recess was a resounding victory for the ever growing in confidence leader of the opposition Ed Miliband and once again he managed to make David Cameron look tired, out of touch and out of his depth.

David Cameron, on the back foot and panicking, resurrected the "red Ed" tag, although why he chose to do so is a mystery, it didn't work the first time when Ed first became leader of the Labour party and Cameron has failed to make it stick all the other times the he has tried to launch it. It was clear from the PM's performance that he was desperately trying to give the Sunday newspapers a soundbite. However, the only thing reddish about Ed Miliband happened to be the reflection of David Cameron's ever rising crimson tide from across the dispatch box. If Cameron's failed "red Ed" pun is the best he can come up with then he is in serious trouble! I wonder does he realise that Ladbrokes  are giving 3-1 on David Cameron being replaced as Tory leader before the next election?

Ed Miliband ribbed the PM over his lack of control over his party and for losing his temper and pointed to an incident that took place last evening with Jesse Norman Tory MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire  over the vote for Lords reform, which Cameron was forced to ditch for fear of plunging the Coalition into further bitter chaos.
Karl Turner Labour MP for Kingston Upon Hull told BBC Radio Five Live that he;

was leaving the division lobby in the House of Commons shortly after Tuesday's [10/07/2012] vote when he saw Mr Cameron make a "beeline" for Jesse Norman. 

"The prime minister was red-faced and clearly very very angry. 

"I was taken aback because you don't expect to see the PM doing that to a colleague: pointing and prodding towards him in a very, very aggressive manner," Mr Turner told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"I heard the prime minister make a remark - that he didn't think Jesse Norman's behaviour had been honourable"

The 91 rebel Tory MPs who voted against the government have to admit they had to rely on Labour MPs votes to win, what a pity these Tory MPs couldn't do the same when it came to passing the Health and Social Care Reforms bill which will now lead to privatisation of the NHS. Of all the issues to get steamed up about, welfare cuts, the NHS, education, EMA, tuition fees and the Tories and the Liberal Democrats get all wound up over Lords reform, ("glad" to see they have their priorities "right"!)

This is not the first time that David Cameron has lost his temper this week. After last Wednesday's PMQs There were similar Parliament fisticuffs when Cameron and Miliband left the debating chamber. 

Mr Cameron appeared to be angry that Mr Miliband had suggested a two-part inquiry into the Libor fiasco during Prime Minister’s Questions without having given him prior notice. Cameron attacked Ed Miliband  jabbing his finger and yelling:

‘You had no right to do that without telling me,’ he stormed. ‘

You ambushed me! Don’t do that again!’ Mr Miliband countered: 

 ‘You have handled all this badly and Osborne has made false allegations against us.’

In today's PMQs when Cameron was asked by a back bench MP when he was going to apologise for his chancellor's accusations where he libelled Ed Balls the shadow chancellor in the Spectator magazine and again in the House, Mr Cameron flew off into yet another rage, ranting away and completely evading answering the question.

Another sure sign of the Tory led Government under increasing pressure and out of control is the question which was literally screamed out by Tory MP Anne Marie Morris.

The question was an obvious planted question concerning something about further education ( which this Tory government are wrecking as plummeting numbers on courses have shown), although quite what the point was no one seems to know, not only was she drowned out by shouting, it looks like someone cut her microphone! Also why on earth is she wearing a sling, doesn't look like there is much wrong with her arm the way she was flinging it around. (I hope she doesn't claim DLA if she does she can expect a call from Atos). I think Cameron should have saved his now infamous "calm down dear" quip for her, her actions were truly bizarre!

Tory MP Andrew Bridgen asked a partisan question about council tax, (desperately sucking up to Cameron after revolting last night in the Lords Reform vote) David Cameron always happy to obliged a crawler and indulge in a bit of Labour battering answered, "we back the workers, they back the shirkers". So we are legitimately entitled to ask if this reply was an admission that David Cameron and the Tory party and Lib Dems by default, judge all those people unfortunate enough to lose their jobs and are currently unemployed as "shirkers"? And that all those who vote Labour are "shirkers" too? Nice to know!

The bullying and a narcissistic temperament clearly displayed by Cameron in public is horrendous, what on earth is the man like behind the scenes?
